3.Kingsford Charcoal was co-founded by Henry Ford
In the early 1920s, Henry Ford formed the Kingsford Company along with E.G. Kingsford. Ford figured that all the waste wood coming out of his car factories could be used to make charcoal. This idea came to life when Kingsford secured the site selection for the charcoal plant. Originally, the plant was named ‘Ford Charcoal,’ but due to the involvement of E.G. they renamed it later to Kingsford charcoal. P.S. Clorox is the owner of Kingsford now.
