9.Ford tried to buy both Ferrari and Alfa Romeo
You all probably know that Henry Ford II attempted to buy Ferrari and almost succeeded but Enzo backed out of the deal at the last minute. Little did Enzo know that Ford would authorize production of the GT40 that later dominated the 24 Hours of Le Mans stomping Ferrari in the process. Ford then fell for yet another Italian. This time it was the Alfa Romeo in 1986. It is said that Henry Ford liked Alfa, so many believe that there had been an emotional thing to the whole story of a merger but the Italian government got involved, and soon enough Alfa went to Fiat.
