Ford has given Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler pickup truck something to worry about. As report states, two new models from Ford, the 2019 Ford Ranger and 2020 Ford Bronco, will have solid front and rear axles. A Dana axle company has recently agreed to work on the axles of these two vehicles, as Automotive News reports:
“Dana confirmed that both vehicles will have ‘front and rear axles featuring our latest AdvanTEK gear technology.’”
If this is indeed true, it is worth mentioning that building a suitable solid front axle requires more time and it will reflect negatively on fuel efficiency. This also influences on road driving capabilities as you are getting a harsher ride and lower level of comfort. So we wonder if all Broncos and Rangers will have these axles and is this good solution for everyone.

Among others, Dana AdvanTEK is also all in for independent suspension design, a design that large military off-road trucks use. The key when it comes to suspension is a good deal of wheel travel, and if the new models have it, no problems will occur.
Judging by the 2017 Ford Super Duty first drive review, it is safe to say that Ford has mastered combining solid axles and comfortable driving experience.
One of the models that also have Dana solid axles is the Wrangler which means that Ford really aims to improve the off-road attributes of its new vehicles. Fans and enthusiasts approve of this. With news from GM that the 2017 Chevy Colorado ZR2 will bring improvements in suspension, locking front and rear differentials and shocks technology, it is no surprise that Ford also wants to gear up.
No official information regarding these models has been out, although Ford says that we will know more as we approach the reveal of the Ranger and Bronco. Latest details about these two vehicles were delivered at 2017 Detroit Auto Show.
