The 2018 Porsche Cayenne prototype went on road-testing. We have the latest details and rumors on the next-generation SUV, as well as some spy shots. Here’s what we know so far.
Exterior and Interior Design Changes
As you can see in the photos below, the 2018 Porsche Cayenne prototype does resemble the current model, but is still has some minor changes on its body. Those changes include a longer and flatter roof, which now comes with an active roof spoiler, and slightly changed hood, similar to those found at Macan. The back also seems to be modified. The SUV will also be lighter than its predecessor by 440 pounds (about 200 kg) thanks to the modular VW MLB Evo platform. It will also improve car’s stability and handling.
The interior will feature a large touch-sensitive panel that will allow you to control the audio system, A/C, seat heaters, stability features, smartphone connectivity, etc. We also know that there will be a digital display behind the steering wheel with an analogue tachometer.
Engine, Performance
The 2018 Porsche Cayenne is said to come with a variety of engines. The base model will be powered by a naturally-aspirated V6, the Cayenne S will feature a turbocharged V6, while the Turbo model will receive a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 producing 542 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque. We can also expect the S E-Hybrid variant with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, or even an all-electric model. Fuel economy is going to be improved thanks to the new, lighter platform.
Release Date
The 2018 Porsche Cayenne SUV is said to be released in the second half of 2017. When it arrives, it is gonna be a competitor to other models built on the MLB Evo platform, including 2017 Audi Q7, 2017 Bentley Bentayga, 2018 Volkswagen Touareg, and Lamborghini Urus.
