2020 Ford Bronco Official Announcement

2020 Ford Bronco

2020 Ford Bronco 03/16/2018 Update

Ford held a press conference where they discussed the future of the company in SUV segment. The news that came our way was in regard to their upcoming off-road vehicles, with 2020 Ford Bronco included. The new Bronco, teased for years was in focus, but Blue Oval also mentioned smaller off-roader which caught many off guard. But, back to 2020 Bronco. The vehicle was hidden under a sheet, but from what could be seen it will be boxy, as we wanted it. Many people, we included, thought that it would have design cues of other Ford worldwide model – Everest. For other awesome design you can go to: https://www.designdemarca.pt/

Ford Motor Company officials talked about other vehicles that they are working on such as Mustang GT500, the Explorer ST, and the Mach 1. But, the Bronco had all of our attention. The mystery SUV under that sheet had familiar Bronco boxy shape, long square hood, a windshield built under almost 90 degrees, and rectangular greenhouse. At the back we have a rear mounted spare tire and bulging fenders on all wheels. With all of this, it seems that new 2020 Ford Bronco won’t be an Everest lookalike which comes as good news. What might be shared with the named SUV are some of its underpinnings.

The platform and powertrain options are expected to be borrowed from recently presented 2019 Ford Ranger. According to information gathered after the press conference in Michigan, the new 2020 Bronco will come in two variants. A two-door and four-door setup. Blue Oval intention is to go directly at Jeep Wrangler. The version of Bronco hidden on the photos looks like a two-doors setup based on its wheelbase. The four-door variant will probably come later, as a necessity to achieve acceptable sale volumes.

Moving away from Bronco, as hard as it is for us to do so, Ford also presented us with a teaser picture of future small off-road crossover. This vehicle still lacks an official name. It was rumored that it’s a new version of the Escape, but it was confirmed that it’s not it. We could conclude that on our own, because the front fascia has an aggressive look to it, unlike Escape, and grille has Ford written on it and not a Blue Oval badge. This kind of badging is unique for Ford’s Raptor models, as it can be seen on F-150 Raptor.

03/05/2017 Update:

The 2020 Ford Bronco was confirmed a few months ago, and this iconic model will be coming back to the market, read this. Here we have the list of all known and speculated facts related to this vehicle and its resurrection by the Blue Oval company. As more info is delivered, we will further update this page.

At this moment it is known that:

The last model of Bronco that finished its run in 1996 was based on the F-150 platform, but the previous generations shared underpinnings with Ranger, so it is possible for the new one to choose any of these two. What we could hear is that Ranger is a likelier donor.

Ford plans to bring four or even five new utilities in the next few years, and 2020 Ford Bronco is a part of this plan. The thing that will especially delight the fans of the company and this model is the fact that the new SUV will be produced in Wayne Assembly Plant in Michigan.

Few teasers suggest that the cool bucking Bronco logo is coming back.

A great number of fans are super excited about the return of this machine.

Things that are not confirmed but we think that will happen:

Latest reports suggest that 2020 Ford Bronco will be created in Australia and that comes in line with the fact that currently available Ranger is developed there.

Again, platform. For the new vehicle to be a proper SUV, it needs to come as body-on-frame SUV meaning that Escape or Edge models are not able to fulfill this duty. Ranger, on the other hand, could be the best choice for this task.

Things that are still not confirmed:

Engine lineup is unknown but looking at the current offer of the company we think that smaller I4 EcoBoost unit could be used as a base. Second in the lineup could be V6 but naturally aspirated one while the turbocharged diesel in the mix would make us all happy.

Ford Performance could bring off-road variant that would join the F-150 Raptor but also would be able to compete with Jeep Wrangler on pretty much any track.

If you remember, the original Bronco came with only two doors, but the fact is that four-door Unlimited heavily outsells two door Wrangler. It will be interesting to see what will come out of the factory and if Ford will stick with the original recipe and offer only two door version or they will bring both options to the table or even something else.

2020 Ford Bronco 01/10/2017 Update:
2020 Ford Bronco is coming to the market as 4×4 midsize model. This has been highly anticipated and heavily rumored vehicle and Blue Oval company decided to use 2017 North American International Auto Show to announce the return of the legend.

During the presentation, we did not receive many details about the all-new vehicle. We are still far from knowing the real specs, dimensions and design language that will be employed here. For now, we have officially received only a Bronco related graphic, and we will have to wait a little bit more before first images come from the company.

What we did learn from this year Detroit Auto Show is that 2020 Ford Bronco will be highly capable on both streets and unpaved roads. Here is the statement of Joe Hinrichs that describes it perfectly as “a no-compromise midsize 4×4 utility for the thrill-seekers who want freedom and off-road functionality, with the space and versatility of an SUV. It’s capable of conquering everything from your daily commute to gravel roads and boulders,”

Images that were presented during this event and while Mr. Hinrichs introduction clearly show demanding off-road paths with lots of rocky segments distinctly pointing out at possibilities that will be offered by new 4×4 SUV.

Among other things, that are also closely related to Bronco, we could hear the announcement for the 2019 Ford Ranger. Why this is important, you may ask, well, it is highly possible that these two will be sharing lots of parts and that our favorite-to-be SUV will be closely based on new Ranger.

To be honest, we already knew that this will happen, we only needed the real confirmation from the company. In October 2016 we could hear United Auto Workers official announcing the production of both Ranger and Bronco in Michigan Facility but this is the first time that the company officially confirmed and talked about 2020 Ford Bronco.

Another interesting piece of info that popped up on Ford’s presentation is the fact that they are planning on delivering five new utility vehicles by 2020. There are no details about all those models but what we know so far is that 2019 Ford Ranger is coming and that 2020 Ford Bronco is being prepared. Good enough for us.

Even Ford didn’t deliver any official figures and specs related to dimensions, weight, engine lineup, performances and prices, we can predict few things. This should be taken with pinch of salt as these are only our predictions.

08/12/2016 Update:

As Motoring reports, one of the most iconic SUVs is coming back to the market, and the 2020 Ford Bronco is being developed by Ford Australia. US carmaker decided to stop mass vehicle production in Australia and use it to create and test new cars. So far, there were no official confirmations that the Bronco would be reintroduced. However, due to the recent leaks from UAW, we could say with almost absolute certainty that both the Bronco and a new Ranger will be manufactured in a couple of years in the U.S., more precisely in Ford’s Michigan factory.

The Ranger trucks that could be bought all around the world except in the U.S. were produced in Australia. This is important because the revived Bronco will also use the platform that the Ranger uses, only updated. That is why Ford decided to assign their Australian division with creating the new Bronco.

Although no official statement has been issued, we do know that the F-150 will not serve as a base for the new Bronco. Instead, Ford chose to use the Ranger as a starting point which means that the new vehicle will look like the compact original.

According to CarsGuide, Ford’s chief performance engineer, Jamal Hameedi, went to Australia last year to negotiate the creation of a high-performance Ranger Raptor pick-up. This does not come as a surprise since Ford already had one efficient vehicle in desert races like the Baja 1000 and a hardcore off-roader in the form of the Bronco. Ford has already manufactured and revealed one such old-school Bronco-styled buggy which was specially made for Vaughn Gittin Jr. to drive it in 2017 King of the Hammers off-road race. Although this vehicle is associated with the Bronco nameplate, this is a completely different type of vehicle which was created for racing purpose.

Ford Bronco is Coming Back!

The rumors about a new Ford Bronco started to appear a few years back, but they were dismissed quite rapidly by Ford. However, it does seem that a new version of this car might be released in the future, first as a concept car and then as a production vehicle. Rumors say that the 2020 Ford Bronco will be based on the future Ford Ranger which also means that it will be quite a bit more different than what people expected it to be a couple of years back.

What about Ford Bronco 2020 Price?

This could mean that the great aluminum body of the F-150 or some of its engines will be unavailable, but the Ranger base also means that the Ford Bronco has the chance of being released on the market for even under $20,000. With such a move Ford would allow new Bronco to compete with similar entries on the market and possess a major threat to Jeep and their mighty expensive new Wrangler. The price of about $20k should be taken with a lot of reserves, one of the reasons for that is the fact we could hear rumors about $30k to $35k starting price.

We only hope that even though Ford will decide to use a new and untested platform, they will continue to invest just as much technology as before. Meaning that the new Bronco might get a lot of new features for its market segments such as aluminum panels, removable doors, and windows which would be a huge plus, especially now when the Wrangler will get all of its features removed.

Ford Bronco Release Date

Source: autoblog.com

When it is released, hopefully sometime in the late 2019 but we might get concept car on the year before this. The Bronco will very likely be offered in a couple of different body sizes, a two door and a four door, as well as with or without the removable panels to allow people to customize it to their likings.

2020 Ford Bronco Engine

According to some rumors which may prove to be true considering that they are coming from a source close to Ford, the upcoming Bronco is going to be made available with two different engines at launch with a possible third coming along the way. This is quite unusual considering that its major competitor will stick to its V6 for at least four more years. Ford will install a base 2.0-liter EcoBoost I4 mill with 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque while an optional 2.7 liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque is also going to be available. Third option info is not out yet, and it is hard to speculate since two already mentioned units cover entire segment quite well.

While there aren’t any official pictures of the car, it seems that the future 2020 Ford Bronco will commit to a classy design which has been used on the Wrangler for many years with great success. The closest car Ford has to the Wrangler is one made in Brazil which will likely give the US version of the Bronco a lot of its design. We only hope that Ford will manage to get past the current safety regulations and deliver a great off-road machine.

Before we talk about the update in more detail, it should be mentioned that EpicVIN provides a vehicle history report for all Ford cars registered after 1980. Your option is to use EpicVin’s check free service using a VIN number, but the paid service offers  plenty of important data at a very low price.
