BMW 750d: The Most Powerful Six-Cylinder Diesel Engine in the World

The new version of the BMW 7-Series should be delivered to the European showrooms and according to reports it will have a new engine in the lineup. Expect to see 3.0-liter diesel engine with four turbochargers and even 400 hp.

New engine which was presented in early May in Vienna, will be powering the BMW 750d xDrive and xDrive 750Ld versions. Both models come with 400 hp (294 kW) and 760 Nm of torque at the disposal.

The engine is connected to the eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. The BMW 750d xDrive can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds while the longer version of 750Ld xDrive will reach the same speed after 4.7 s.

Engine

Maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. According to the factory data, the average consumption over the combined cycle is 5.7 to 5.9 l/100 km, and it has recorded CO2 emissions of 149-154 g/km. These are very optimistic data and it will be interesting to see real world figures because we know that European test cycle can be overly optimistic.
