Nissan BladeGlider is ready and set to go which was confirmed after Nissan’s ambassador Margot Robbie took a test drive in Monaco. Night drive with BladeGlider bright lights made a real impression on all of us that have seen the video. In its original form, this concept debuted at 2013 Tokyo show but has since then been improved regarding design and performance. Back then Japanese-manufacturer stated that this model would enter the serial production, but the plan was abandoned after some legal issues. Now Nissan essentially has different plans for it.
BladeGlider’s Design
The original concept, same as the one we see today, have a futuristic design, you can say that it looks like it came out of the movie Tron: Legacy. The rear end is wide with large racing tires; front end is narrow and pointy. The combination of the two gives the car somehow arrow shape. The bolt design improves the car’s performance through aerodynamic shape gained from this form.
The doors are dihedral, and they open from the front side and with up motion. With this touch, the car looks like a spaceship when doors are opened. Interior wise the model is even more radical with its three seats layout. Interestingly the concept has one seat at the front and two rear seats. Steering wheel, in addition to its steering duties, also serves as a digital display that shows functions and various information such as speed and battery levels to the driver.
Nissan BladeGlider Specs and Range
Nissan BladeGlider is powered by a huge 220-kWh battery which sends electricity to 268 hp and 521 lb-ft of torque electric motor. This unit can blast the BladeGlider 0-62 in less than five seconds. This model maximum speed is 118 mph which is a decent number for a car that has zero emission. The ‘Glider also has so-called drift option which allows its drivetrain to transfer power to only one of the rear wheels. This kind of technology is already being used on models such is 2017 Ford Focus RS. In terms of range you shouldn’t expect too much. The size of battery pack promises much, but the power is aimed at performance not on covering the distance. Japanese car manufacturer didn’t stated just how much can the BladeGlider cover but they could do so after Geneva Motor Show.

BladeGlider Nissan Release date
There is no release date set for BladeGlider because the odds of this car being released in serial production in this shape are very slim. The concept itself will be presented in Geneva next month, but its primary goal is to preview what Nissan has to offer in this department. Expect these design cues and performance numbers on the future sportier version of Leaf, or under some other name but in Nissan’s sport-electric department. At this point, this should be considered a real possibility because besides the Yokohama-based company other manufacturers are already venturing into the world of a fully-electric sports car or are at least getting ready to do so.
Price of BladeGlider
For this concept which will debut in Geneva Nissan didn’t disclose the price. This is a common thing to do when dealing with the concept vehicle but back in the day when BladeGlider was considered to be on the way to production they did set the price for it. After the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, where ‘Glider was well accepted, Nissan product chief at the time Andy Palmer said that the Nissan BladeGlider was meant to be an “anti-establishment electric sports car” which would be priced around $37,000.
