Tesla: Our next Car Will Be Cheaper Than Model 3

The Model 3 is Tesla’s most important electric car yet, promising a sleek design and high-tech features at an affordable price. However, Tesla Motors will not stop after this long awaited car. The company could have something even better coming in the future, assuming its current plans work out about the Model 3, which should begin to produce and sell in 2017.

Speaking in Norway during a recent transportation conference, Tesla CEO Elon Musk hinted at plans for a fourth generation car that ‘anyone can afford.’ Although the Model 3 is so far Tesla’s cheapest car with a price of 30,000 Euros or about $35,000 depending on the market, that amount of money is still too high for a good part potential drivers that are looking for a new car in this segment. ‘A car like the Model 3 is designed to be affordable for approximately 50 percent of people who need a vehicle. Then, with fourth generation and smaller cars, we will be in the position where everyone will be able to afford the car’, Musk said.

Tesla offers four cars already, but the company’s Model S and Model X are often lumped together as the second generation of Tesla’s electric vehicles. Before a company can get started to work on the car of the fourth generation, it has to solve ‘a problem’ of excessive demand for Model 3, which at this moment wants a more than 400,000 people across the world.

We could already hear rumors that the next vehicle in the lineup will be named Model Y but not so long ago stories about Model 4 have emerged. What will be the final decision and what name will be chosen, remains to be seen.
