Alfa Romeo returned to the US more than a year ago with the 4C, but we could say that its true comeback begins with the all-new Giulia. The new model will be available to buyers within this month and will probably be a worthy opponent to other sports sedans from Germany, England, Japan, and America. Alfa Romeo has revealed some of the details concerning Giulia’s price and trims, all aspects in which it will be similar to its competitors.
Price
The starting price (with delivery) of the Giulia is $38,990 which is a bit more expensive than the competition, but only reasonably higher. The most expensive in its class is Mercedes-Benz C300 with the starting price of $40,425 and the least expensive is $34,445 worth BMW 3-Series. Alfa Romeo Giulia will run on a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that puts out 280 hp and 306 pound-feet of torque. This unit enables the base model to go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds, and this is where the Giulia is number one in its segment and why you should not think too much about its slightly higher price.
On the other hand, the starting price (with shipping) of Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is $73,595, and again it comes more expensive than the Cadillac ATS-V and BMW M3, but in the same range as Mercedes-AMG C63 S Sedan. The case is the similar as with the basic Giulia as you pay more for higher quality. This beast has a 2.9-liter biturbo V6 that puts out 505 hp and 443 pound-feet of torque which allows it go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. Furthermore, the Giulia Quadrifoglio managed to achieve the Nurburgring lap time record of 7 minutes and 32 seconds. Alfa Romeo has no intention of making a version with the stick shift for the US, and transmission will be done through an 8-speed automatic.
For an extra $2,000 buyers can have FCA’s Q4 all-wheel-drive system incorporated in the standard Giulia and Giulia Ti which costs $40,990 and is available with Ti Sport and Ti Lusso packages. Each package costs $2,250. The difference between the Ti Sport and Ti Lusso is that the first model is like a softer version of the Quadrifoglio and the second is cozy and relaxed.
Release Date
As we said earlier, the Giulia Quadrifoglio will hit the market this month, and other versions will be available to customers in January 2017. If you are interested in owning a sedan that is sportier than others, consider looking up Alfa Romeo Giulia because it may be what you are looking for.
