At the 2016 LA Auto Show on Wednesday Nissan took the opportunity to reveal the new 2017 Nissan Sentra Nismo which will be an upgraded version of Sentra sedan. The Sentra SR Turbo, which was previously seen, has been used as a base for further development and it carries a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline four engine with 188 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque.
The new vehicle was previewed at the 2013 L.A. auto show, and after three years the real debut happened. The original concept featured a 240-horsepower unit, but the production Nissan Sentra Nismo comes with Sentra SR Turbo’s setup. When it comes to transmission, a 6-speed manual or CVT is available with only front wheel drive.
2017 Nissan Sentra Nismo Updates
Upgrades were made in the area of aerodynamics, suspension tuning and body reinforcements. Work was also done on the chassis, so the 2017 Nissan will have monotube rear dampers and unique tuning of the front springs and struts. On both ends, the car will feature Nismo stabilizer bars, and with unique tuning division calibrations of the electronic power steering, the customer will have a sportier driving experience. This is not all as many interior features were added to make the vehicle look more like a sports car and to be more in line with changes to the exterior.
Nismo’s signature red accents complete the aggressive body kit just like the Michelin Pilot Sport tires perfect those 18-inch wheels. The housing ventilated brake discs span more than 11 inches at both ends. The car will be available in four colors: Aspen White, Super Black, Brilliant Silver, and Gun Metallic.
The cabin features Nismo logos, extra bolstering for the seats and red accent stitching while the sports steering wheel with Alcantara and leather trim is also available. The instrument panel with a Nismo logo and a dark headliner contribute to the unique interior design. The downside is that only one interior color available is charcoal with red accents.
