2017 Honda CR-V – Consumer Reports

The new 2017 Honda CR-V is spot on, according to Consumer Reports who had a chance to take it for a quick drive. It would not be a surprise if we saw the new model become the best-selling car in its category for 2017. With the exception of Ford F-150, it might become the most popular vehicle in America in the following year.

Although facing fierce competition in crossover category for more than two decades, Honda CR-V managed to remain on the top and be one of the most popular vehicles of its type. With improvements like a luxurious new cabin that features the wood trim on the dash and beautiful leather seats, its popularity can only rise. The infotainment system, however, is not so great and is one of the rare pieces that we would love to see further upgraded.

The old/new member of the Honda family had to be quieter and more enjoyable to drive, so it features an active noise-canceling system along with upgraded NVH engineering. The manufacturers used the knowledge from Honda Civic to improve the 2017 CR-V driver’s experience, and according to initial reviews, they really did it.

2017 Honda CR-V Engine

Under the hood, the new model in Japanese carmaker lineup will feature the 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo engine like the one that Civic has. With this setup 2017 Honda CR-V will have 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque, although there will also be a 2.4-liter base engine with 184 horsepower. These two will need to be tested side by side, but our guess is that smaller turbo will be more agile, quicker and less thirsty making it a better choice in our book.

Honda wanted to ensure that its customers stay safe so the forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking are both standard from the second trim level. Even there are no current official announcements for trim level names we are pretty sure that there will be no major changes in the lineup. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety will surely award the 2017 Honda CR-V with a Top Safety Pick+ rating.
