The 2018 Volkswagen Touareg SUV has been spotted during its transportation on top of a truck, and somebody managed to take several shots of the vehicle’s exterior and interior.
Exterior, Interior, Equipment
The new VW Touareg is based on the MLB Evo platform, however a little bit shorter compared to that found at the 2017 Audi Q7. This platform will allow the car to be lighter and more fuel efficient. The test mule features new body panels and modified exhaust system and revised taillights. You can’t notice that in the photos because the quality is not the best, but the test mule features a digital gauge cluster behind the steering wheel. It will most likely feature improved infotainment system and variety of driver-assist features. You can see both the exterior and interior design of the 2018 Volkswagen Touareg in the photos below.
Engine, Performance
We still don’t know anything about engine options, but we think that the base 2018 Volkswagen Touareg will come with a four-cylinder petrol unit, paired with a 10-speed dual-clutch transmission. There are some rumors talking about a plug-in hybrid version paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, the same one used on the T-Prime GTE Concept, which produces 375 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.
Release Date
The 2018 Volkswagen Touareg will be introduced to the public in late 2016 and will go on sale sometime in 2017.
2018 Volkswagen Touareg Spy Shots
Don’t get fooled by the Audi badges. It is actually a prototype model of the upcoming VW Touareg SUV. Like we said, both the Audi Q7 and third-generation Touareg are based on the same MLB Evo platform, and Audi is owned by Volkswagen Group, so it is not uncommon to see a test mule with different badges.
For the end, check out these two rendering photos by Remco Meulendijk, showing the possible design of the latest Touareg. The artist used the T-Prime GTE Concept as an inspiration for this rendering design.
