2018 Aston Martin Vanquish S – Grand Tourer at Its Best

The ongoing Vanquish was released back in 2012, and since then it has been the flagship car for Aston Martin. Even though they introduced the all new DB11 quite recently, the Vanquish still is their most expensive offering, and it seems that it will remain that way up until at least 2019. Why do we say that? Well, not that long ago the upcoming 2018 Aston Martin Vanquish S has been spied testing around the Nurburgring. The S means that this will be a special version before the facelift of the car. Just like with the previous model this one should offer a bit more power and unique aerodynamic elements as well.

Even though the cars look will differ and bring improved performances, in essence, it is the same vehicle as before. This will also make it the last naturally aspirated two-door Aston in production.

The price is still unknown at this point but just like with all the S models, a small bump is to be expected. It is also worth mentioning that special version will be on the market for only a couple of years before being replaced by a DB11-based car.

The Exterior

Even though the car spied on the Nurburgring was painted in a matte-black finish, it did give away a few things about the 2018 Aston Martin Vanquish S. For starters, it seems that the front end of the car is going to change very little. The only difference here will be the front bumper which will receive a larger splitter, and that’s about it.

The production model could bring a new hood with hot-air extractors, but this hasn’t been confirmed just yet. The back, on the other hand, seems to receive a bit more attention. There is a much larger diffuser than before, and the exhaust tips have been moved further to the outside parts of the bumper. On top of that, there are four exhaust pipe endings that also seem to offer flaps, so the car should be much louder than before in certain situations.

The Interior of 2018 Aston Martin Vanquish S

So far we can’t say anything about the interior of the upcoming vehicle. However, like with other Aston Martin S models, the Vanquish won’t change all that much. Here, the car may receive a new infotainment system, but that’s about it. Don’t expect to see upgrades to the dashboard, so it should come with the same instrument cluster, seats and customization options.

Under the Hood

The 2018 Aston Martin Vanquish S will remain only naturally aspirated Aston still in production for 2017 and 2018. The car will stick with the same 5.9-liter naturally aspirated V12 petrol engine which has its roots at Ford. This unit will likely get a bump from the current 565 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque. There are rumors suggesting that Aston will increase its output in order to meet the specifications of the powerplant found in the Zagato which makes 592 horsepower. This wouldn’t be all that hard to do, especially with the new exhaust system.

We should see a 0 to 60 MPH time better than 3.8 seconds and a top speed north of 200 MPH. The gearbox will likely be the same eight-speed automatic as before bringing smooth and fast shifts. In the future, the Vanquish is expected to utilize turbocharged units, and if you prefer naturally aspirated high-revving engines, this is your last chance to get one. Even though these are just rumors at this point, we expect it to receive the 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 in the future. Until then, the current naturally aspirated 5.9-liter engine still has some life in it. On top of that, it has been proven to be one of the most reliable engines Aston offered in the recent years, so it is a logical choice for an upgrade.
